La Cala de Mijas, Spain – beautiful town in Costa del Sol. All info based on our last trip in 2018.
accesible boardwalk that goes for miles along the sea, wide paths, ramps and dropped kerbs in town, wooden platforms for wheelchair users to get onto the beach
many accessible restaurants and hotels, for example VIK Gran Hotel Costa del Sol which is right by the beach, they offer hoist for hire
about 40 min drive from Malaga Airport
accesible taxis available, what’s app number to the one we used: +34 619 92 37 03. The website says public transport is wheelchair accessible, but can’t confirm as we haven’t tried it yet
nice market in town twice a week
swimming in the sea available at the lifeguard station from June to end of September. They transfer you onto a special chair and take you swimming, it’s free of charge
Mijas about 10 min drive away with amazing mountain views
we couldn’t find any wheelchair accessible boat to go sea fishing, but the crew agreed to just lift the wheelchair onto the boat. If you catch fish, they can cook them for you in a restaurant after you come back
we went to watch a horse show to a nearby town, the wheelchair spaces were located at the stage level, behind the window. At first it looked like we won’t see the show very well, but it was absolutely amazing
